STM32MP series

For connected products that need Linux, rich interfaces and dependable real-time control, Crossware turns STM32MP hardware into a stable, product-ready software platform.

01

BSP development

Custom Linux board support packages, device-tree configuration, bootloader adaptation and peripheral enablement for customer hardware.

02

Board bring-up

Early hardware validation across memory, display, touch, networking, storage, cameras and custom interfaces.

03

Linux platform engineering

Yocto integration, kernel and driver work, secure update strategies and maintainable production images.

Case study · Boot-time optimisation

Reducing startup time from platform boot to a usable product.

For an STM32MP-based embedded product, Crossware analysed the complete startup path, from bootloader and kernel initialisation to services and application launch. The system was reduced to the essential production path and tuned at every layer.

The resulting platform reached the application in approximately four seconds, giving the product a responsive power-on experience without compromising the maintainability of its Linux BSP.

Case study · Secure firmware update

Reliable field updates without risking the running product or customer data.

Crossware engineered a USB-based update solution for an STM32MP product using redundant A/B system partitions. New firmware is written to the inactive partition, verified and activated only when the update is ready, leaving the previous system available for controlled recovery.

Customer data remains isolated and intact throughout the update. The design handles interrupted installations, corrupt or incompatible packages, failed first boot and rollback scenarios, while anti-rollback controls prevent an authenticated device from being downgraded to older, vulnerable firmware.

Frequently asked questions

Does Crossware work across the whole STM32 range, or just one class?

Both: from STM32MP Linux application processors (BSP, board bring-up, platform engineering) down to STM32 L4/F4/F7/H7/N6 microcontrollers running Qt for MCUs bare-metal or on FreeRTOS.

How fast can an STM32MP product boot to a usable screen?

In a delivered case study, Crossware tuned an STM32MP-based product's full startup path down to approximately four seconds from power-on to the application.

Can firmware be updated in the field without risking a bricked device?

Yes. Crossware has delivered a USB-based secure update design using redundant A/B partitions, with signed verification, anti-rollback protection and power-loss-safe recovery.

Is GPU acceleration available on STM32 MCUs, or is rendering CPU-bound?

Crossware integrates both DMA2D and the NeoChrom GPU into the Qt for MCUs hardware acceleration backend, covering pixel format conversion, image blending, transforms and rects.

Does the N6 series support secure boot?

Yes. Crossware has delivered a production-oriented FSBL plus trusted-binary flash/boot flow for N6 secure boot, alongside TrustZone/RIF configuration for secure graphics masters.
