CRA engineering support

Technical building blocks.
For your CRA readiness.

Support your product security programme with secure boot, signed updates, hardware-backed keys, platform hardening and verification evidence. Crossware delivers defined engineering work packages within the manufacturer’s wider CRA programme.

Start with the product boundary

Agree what the product needs, then assign the work.

The Cyber Resilience Act addresses both product security and lifecycle processes. Our starting point is your product architecture, risk assessment and allocated requirements. We agree which controls Crossware will implement, what the OEM will supply and how the result will be verified.

Applicability and the conformity route depend on the product. Automotive and medical products can be subject to sector-specific exclusions; industrial and connected products need their own scope assessment.

Indicative requirement mapping

Concrete engineering contributions to product security.

The measures below can support relevant requirements in CRA Annex I. Selection and sufficiency depend on the product risk assessment; this is a technical mapping, not a product conformity statement.

Engineering example

From product security objectives to device operations.

Our Embedded Device Management Platform case study illustrates technical building blocks relevant to secure administration and update handling: authenticated sessions, CSRF protection, validated API operations, TLS, signed images and A/B recovery.

Protect administrative access.

Separate browser-facing components from privileged host services. Apply session and request controls before device operations are executed.

Control updates and recovery.

Integrate image validation and signed-image update handling with dual-partition recovery and visible progress for the administrator.

This is evidence of specific engineering capabilities, not a claim that the project was assessed for CRA conformity. The published case study does not establish secure boot or HSM integration.

Delivery boundaries

An engineering partner inside your CRA programme.

Crossware work package

Implement and substantiate

  • Allocate agreed requirements to software layers.
  • Design and integrate selected security controls.
  • Test the implementation on the target system.
  • Deliver traceability, findings and known limitations.
  • Scope patches and maintenance for delivered components.
Manufacturer-led programme

Own the complete product

  • Determine CRA scope and product classification.
  • Own overall risk acceptance and conformity assessment.
  • Coordinate SBOM and supply-chain responsibilities.
  • Set support policy and vulnerability disclosure processes.
  • Own regulatory reporting, user information and the EU declaration.

Crossware’s test results feed your technical documentation. A work package does not by itself establish CRA conformity for the complete product. Responsibilities and lifecycle services are agreed explicitly.

A practical starting point

Bring the architecture and the open requirements.

  1. Review the inputsTarget hardware, boot and update architecture, software components, risk assessment and security requirements.
  2. Define the packageSelected controls, dependencies, acceptance criteria, ownership and required test evidence.
  3. Deliver into your programmeIntegrated software, verification reports, traceability and an explicit list of remaining product-level actions.
Start with your product

Turn allocated requirements into a delivery scope.

Tell us which parts of your embedded platform need security implementation or verification. We will scope the controls, interfaces and evidence together with your team.
